Don't be a slave, don't be someone who wants to earn money but can't earn money. Every second you work must be paid, there should be no charity work because that is for slaves. Even if you're just working in a small company... if it's your time to go home then go home. Never please your boss, if it's time then it's time. There is no such thing as a free work, that is for people who are so scared to lose their job. If they are really requesting you to extend your work then file it as an overtime with pay, never work without getting paid.
This idea will only apply if you are confident enough that you can earn money on your own, if you are confident enough that you can find another job. But if you will just do it because you're lazy and full of ego then you're in big trouble. They might fire you and you might have a hard time looking for another job.
If you already work hard for 9 hours then stop working and go home. You shouldn't work for free, it is a bad idea because you will only feel bad, you will feel that the company is cheating on you.
So be good, be great and every second you work will get paid. They will give you what you need because they will be afraid to lose you.
