Because eating junkfood and watching TV is fun and easy but it's not the best move that's why he feels like a garbage afterwards. To transform yourself you need to make an assessment of your habits, actions, words and thoughts. You need admit to yourself what is the best action available and do it even if it is too boring and hard. You need to force yourself to pick the right choices or else you will never be transformed ever. What is the best thought that you can think of that will make you feel motivated and pumped up to take actions, if you can't think of something then just do what you need to do even if you're feeling bad or unmotivated. Success is simply making the right choices every now and then. Wealthy and smart people knows the best move all the time. Broke people doesn't know what is the best move for them or maybe they know it but they pretend to be dumb that's why they always choose the move that feels better but will give them a miserable life in the end. That is why they always choose to buy something, they will buy stuffs that they don't need even if it's the worse financial decision that they will ever do. They will choose emotions over intelligence that's why they're broke and cannot make a progress.
Going to party feels good but it's not the best move for you if you want to change your life. Watching TV is s easy but it's not the best move available if you want to finish all of your errands. There is always a best choice available, if you want to pass an exam the best move is to simply open your book and study. It's not opening your mp3 player and listen to music, it's not talking to your friend first and asking for an advice because you're acting like you're pressured, it's not drinking a coffee first to wake you up, the best move is to simply open the book and read what you can read to put something into your empty head. You know what will make your life better but you're not doing it that's why you're stuck in a quick sand forever and you keep on going down. The best move is always available, go to it directly and stop all the ceremonies.
