There is no specific technique to become successful, you can do it your way, you can become really creative here. The choice is yours, the decision is yours, if your instincts is telling you to try something then try it.
There are lot of formulas to become successful, a certain process may not work with you, you have to reinvent and look for what works for you.
Some people has a process that looks terrible but they were still making results. It all depends on how it works for you, what is yours may not work for everyone and what everyone has may not work for you, were are all different with each other so never copy someone's process because that will lead to failure.
Create your own style, build your own path, even if everything looks ugly... don't be afraid to commit to it.
