It's really hard to become productive because the world today is full of distractions, you can see entertainment around you. Most people have the talents and skills but they lack the focus to finish something they started. An email notification can easily catch their attention, a simple text from their friends can stop them fast from finishing what they are doing.
Sometimes it's really frustrating because you know you can do it, you know you can achieve it but you can't finish it on time. There is something that is always stopping you from finishing what you've started. Anyway here are the 5 best tips to become productive this year:
1. Shut down all the distractions. Turn off your cellphone, shut down the TV, stop gossiping in facebook, disable your account if you needed to, stop looking outside. If you need to become totally a nerd here then do it, remember... you are chasing success, if you really want it then you need to stop entertaining yourself every now and then. What is fun has no rewards, what is fun will never make you better. You need to make sacrifices if you want to own your life. Your life was already owned by other people, social media, gadgets etc. They can get your attention easily, you're giving your precious time to them that fast without even resisting.
You need to make a choice now, if you really want to become a winner in life then you need to sacrifice a lot of things especially something that can get your attention easily, you need to make a stand to stop looking at them because you don't need them at the moment. What you need is action and you can't start if there are many distractions around you.
2. Be in the moment. Always stay present, you need to be mindful of what you're doing. Sometimes your brain is in an auto pilot mode, every time there is a memory that pops out... you will stop what you are doing. Ever time there is a flash back from the past you will immediately feel bad or excited and dwell with that past so you already forgotten that there is something you need to do. Be in the moment, always think that the number one priority is your present actions and obligations, forget the past, forget the future... just do what is needed now because it is urgent and it is the only thing that can change your life.
Stop thinking about the future, stop worrying because that will take away your attention to the moment. Forget about what may happen next, focus on the now, focus on how to make it better. Stop thinking about what you will do next if you haven't finish the present task yet.
3. Stop multi tasking. Multi tasking will only make your mind crowded, it will add pressure to you because you feel that there is always an urgent task needed to be done. You will lose focus, you will go crazy, Stop multi tasking so that you can finish a single task fast. Multi tasking will only make you slower, it will make you crumble and confused. Multi tasking will make you develop a habit of not finishing something right away. Sometimes you are already procrastinating by multi tasking, for example you need to review your lessons but you will stop it because you will wash the dishes... that is procrastination already, you want to feel better by choosing an easier task, it only means you don't want to finish reviewing your lessons... you are choosing to feel a lot better by washing the dishes. Always remember that just because you are doing something doesn't mean you are doing the right thing, sometimes you will do something to excuse yourself from doing the harder activity.
4. Once you start don't stop. Swear to yourself that once you start you will never stop. It doesn't matter how slow you finish it but just don't stop. This will develop your focus to finish something on time, you will become more productive. You will see that there are many things you can accomplish in one day because you are taking it one task at a time. You can rest if you are tired but never switch task.
5. Only do what is important. Just do what is important, if cleaning your house is not important at the moment because you need more time for finishing your report then why do it? if looking for a job is more important than Vlogging then why choose vlogging. Sometimes you need to choose and the best choice is what will make you less guiltier, what will make your situation better and what will put you on the best position to succeed and evolve.
6. Only give time to the most important people in your life. Never give time to losers, never give time to enemies, never give time to people that you don't like. It's just a waste of time and energy, you will never feel good if you are checking your enemy's faccebook account, you will never feel good if you attend the birthday party of your mutual enemy. You need to treat your time as sacred thing, never waste it because you will only regret it in the end.
7. Stop putting information to your head that will not even give you something. Why will you study wu-shu or kung fu? why will you try to learn how to speak spanish? you don't need it for the moment, you are not suppose to know everything. Only put the information that you needed so that your mind will stay disciplined and protected. If there is too much information running inside of your head then you will have a hard time controlling your mind. Your mind should be occupied only with the right data that will make you productive and successful.
8. Stop checking for results. There is a time for checking results, you don't need to do it every now and then. Checking if your client already pay you, checking if your you tube channel has new subscribers, checking if you already lose weight, checking if there are many likes on your post, checking if the money in your stock market account already doubled. You don't need to check a multiple times if you're already progressing, there is a time for it. The time you use for checking if there is a progress made could have been use for doing something that will give you an edge, you could have done more if you stop checking for results.
9. Find a style that is working for you. You can listen to music while working, if that will increase your focus then do it. You can open the television while sweeping the floor, make sure you will not look at it you will just listen to it. You can reward yourself by taking a nap every time you finish something, you can drink a coffee once you feel sleepy... anything that will make your motor keep running do it, you can find a style that will work for you. Just make sure that once you incorporate something to make you more productive... you will never get addicted to it or else it will back fire on you later.
