It is very simple, make sure the habit is sustainable, make sure you can do it tomorrow even if you feel so tired today. Success is a habit, you need to repeat it over and over again even if it feels so uncomfortable. But keep in mind that too much discomfort will make you quit, embrace the discomfort that you can handle for a long period of time. You can't be running today for an hour and then you will rest tomorrow because you got overwhelmed of doing it again. It's better to run for just 30 mins today and then repeat it again tomorrow. The idea here is to always show up and repeat again what you did yesterday, never miss a day, it should be in your system forever.

Choose a habit that you think you can do everyday. If it is about exercise then simply choose an easier one of course there still should be a little resistance because if there is none then you will never make any progress, there should be a little push, there should be a little difficulty. If you think you can just run for 10 mins a day then make it 12 minutes. Do it everyday, habit means simply showing up everyday, it doesn't mean being great all day. Some people have the idea of going hard everyday and changing their lives right away but they will quit fast because they can't sustain a higher level of pace. If you can't sustain something then you already failed. That's why successful people still keep on working everyday because the moment they stop is the moment they stop being successful. Success is to be sustained it is not to be achieved. If you're a champion now and you cannot become a champion next year then you're already a failure again.

The best thing to do is to start now pick a habit and do it forever. If you're a fat guy trying to improve your health then simply pick a small exercise, it can be running for just ten minutes a day. Don't think about the results, the idea here is to show up everyday. Some people will go hard for just 2 or three days and then they will never work again the result is failure. The best thing to do is just pick an easier task and sustain it, don't worry because once you get bored with that task and you feel that you can do it with your eyes close... you will naturally elevate it to a higher level, you will add something to it, the 10 minute exercise will become 15 or 20. The key here is patience, you need to focus on the habit and not on the improvement, the improvement will happen as the time goes by. A fat man doing 10 min exercise everyday is better than a slim man who is not doing any exercise at all. It's not about how you look, it's about how committed you are. Be passionate with the process and it will give you success in the future.

REASON WHY HABITS FAILED

1. People bite off more than they can chew. It's ok to do it but can you sustain it for a long time? can you do it forever. You can go hard now but can you go hard forever? that is the main question. Remember that building a habit is simply about showing up forever and nothing more than that. Doing it everyday is already difficult because the mind will always find an excuse not to do it. Pick a possible task and maintain it everyday, add more difficulty once you get bored so it will become challenging again. 

2. You are doing it just to impress people. A lot of people will exercise and post it on facebook or any kind of social media but later you will find out that they just did it twice a week then stop it. if you are doing something to impress people then you are not doing it for yourself, you are doing it for approval, that will lead to failure because what if nobody is appreciating you? will you still do it?

3. They don't live it. They just want it they don't live it. Habit is attaching it to your life forever, you will never get rid of it even if you feel sick or tired, you will do it because you need to, you should feel so disgusted if you can't do it today. Live it, be one with it and you will become successful. A small success is much better than no success at all. Appreciate the small success, live it, do it for as long as you can and never ever make any excuses why you can't do it today.

4. They always wait for the right moment. They always make a schedule and then will postpone it if they feel bad, they were always looking for the right moment, they don't know that the right moment is when you don't feel good. Developing habit is also developing mental toughness, you have to do it when it feel so uncomfortable, once you master the art of just doing it then you will become successful, your habit will be sustained forever.

5. They were thinking too much. They were thinking about complex plans, they want to get slim so they were thinking about hiring a coach, buying a complicated tread mill, buying the right shoes that looks good, preparing a diet that is really hard to prepare. It's not about the external things, it's about what's inside of you. if you can just make a simple plan and execute it everyday then you will become successful.

BELIEVE IN THE POWER OF ACCUMULATION

Everything you are doing will accumulate in the end. It's better to do something small everyday than not doing anything at all. It will make results if you will fully believe it and give your best, don't worry if you are doing 30 pushups everyday and still nothing is improving, you have to have patience. You have to believe the process, if nothing is working then go a little bit harder, add a little difficulty but make sure you can sustain it forever. You will see the improvement just do it and stop comparing yourself to others.
