Most universities nowadays will teach you a lot of subjects that you will not even use, they will require you to study boring subjects that are useless and will never even be used in a corporate world.
If you will create your own education then you will become selective of the subjects that you're interested with, you have the option not to study a subject that looks boring to you. You own your time, you will only study the things that will give you something in return, you will become your own professor.
The truth is... the universities are only looking fora business, they want your money, they want more money so they will require more units, they will require some subjects that are not needed just to make the time span of studying longer than what is needed.
