Self discipline is what most great people have that most unsuccessful people don't have. Discipline will separate you from the pack, it will bring out the best in you, you will become productive and competitive. Your skills will soar to another level and you will have a very good quality of life. Discipline cannot be seen nor hold but it can be felt and the results are very rewarding. Once you mastered discipline you are free, you can do anything you want... wherever you want and whenever you want.
1. Clean your own room. Cleaning your own room is a good way to build discipline. The moment you wake up you're already working and doing something positive. It's a good way to train yourself to become productive and start fast. You just clean it, you just fold the blanket and keep the pillows. It's too easy right yet it feels hard for anyone to do it because they were not disciplined. One thing about discipline is it will make you do the hard tasks easy because of repeating it everyday.
The greatest martial arts teachers on the earlier days asks their students to clean the whole Dojo, some of the students were wondering why they need to do it but in the end they will realize that it's a part of the disciplining process and they wouldn't have been successful if they didn't clean the Dojo.
At first you will not like it but as you progress and repeat it everyday, you will see that you are growing from it and it's giving you a little boost. It's waking you up and giving you small momentum that you can use to dominate the whole day.
2. Never think and just do it. Stop letting the fearful thoughts go in, you can do it by not thinking too much and just doing it. Thinking will never get the job done, taking actions will do. So whenever there is a resistance of doing it... just do it, shut up and just do it. Your mind will always tell you to don't do it because the default of the mind is to look for comfort. That's why stop using your mind for a while and just do it. There is a time for using your mind and there is a time for stopping it to think. You need to stop it from operating when you're about to start something, stop thinking and just use your mind later when you already started the task.
3. Forget about the outcome. You can't move because you're always thinking about the outcome, you always wanted to look perfect and flawless. You want to make it great the first try which will never happen. Detach from the outcome, forget about the future and you will become free, you will be bale to move easily without any form of resistance. What will happen will happen, forget the outcome and just do something now.
4. Destroy your identity. You want to be like and appreciated and that's one of the biggest reason why you can't move and do something great. You don't want to make mistakes, you don't want to get judged that you're not good enough. The question is who are you? is your name written on the history of books? why are you expecting too much from yourself. Even Kobe Bryant is not afraid to destroy his identity and take the last shot even if there are lots of criticism waiting for him if he miss the shot. He has multiple championship rings but he is not afraid to tarnish his legacy.
Don't be afraid to look like a fool, don't be afraid if people hates you and just do what you need to do, you are allowed to move even if you think people don't like your work at all. Action s better than procrastination, your identity is just an illusion, stop thinking that you're special and you will free yourself instantly.
5. Just give your very best. Just give your best and that's it. There is nothing to worry about, there is nothing to prove. Just give your best and everything else will be taken care of by itself. Because if you give your best then it means you focus on what you can control and that is your effort. You will fail if you will fail but that is outside of your control already, you need to focus on giving your full maximum effort and do whatever it takes to succeed in life.
6. Embrace what you feel right now. Whether yo feel good or feel bad... suck it up, embrace it, don't worry about it. Your feelings will change, just because you feel lazy right now doesn't mean you will feel lazy the whole day. Start taking actions and you will feel motivated again. It's ok if you feel like a crap, you will find that momentum later and you will feel good while working again. So don't ever use your slight sickness, toothache, headache or sore
7. Have a schedule for an important task. If you want to be forced to do something... make a schedule and then do it. Be strict on yourself, don't break the rule and don't be late. Slap yourself if you can't do it, punish yourself, don't feed yourself if you can't do it. You must feel the pain of breaking it and there must be a heavy consequence, this is the only way to follow the schedule.
8. Stop checking your cellphone. Your cellphone is eating a lot of your precious time. It's making you busy for nothing, shut down your cellphone for three days and you will see a big improvement in your productivity.
9. Stop checking your favorite website. Your favorite website is the number one time waster in your life. What is it? NBA.com? facebook? you tube? be honest with yourself, is your favorite website helping you to get some money or manufacture a little momentum for success? if not then you need to stop checking it all the time.
10. Do the basics. Stop being fancy, stop thinking too much about greatness or trying to look cute. There's no need for fanciness on trying to make results. You don't need to look very good... just do something even if you look bad or stupid. It's better to be simple and productive rather than being technical but couldn't even start something. Basics can get the job done, it is the bridge to evolution, do the simplest task first, do what you can do and stop thinking about jumping into something hard or advance because it will overwhelm you. Stay simple and consistent, you can develop a very strong discipline by adapting this principle because you already know what to do and you're simple improving everyday.
11. Create your own process. Try everything, don't be afraid to experiment. This will improve your discipline because you will have a mindset of doing it your way, you feel nothing can stop you, you will become more productive because you are free.
