If you will copy someone then it means you really didn't live your life, don't be an imitator... be an innovator. Do something that the world hasn't seen before. Show the world what you are made of, share to them your creativity.
You already knew what will happen to your life if you follow the footsteps of others. You already see the journey so what is the point of following someone's path. Create your own path and live with it no matter what, every path is the right path if you follow it with your heart.
No regrets, just do what you think will give you happiness, people may blame you, people may get mad at you but if you really follow your heart then you will never be a loser. You will always feel like a winner because you know that you live your life and you live it your way.
Following the footsteps of someone is like insulting yourself, you are making fun of yourself, you are not using your own ideas, you are simply living someone else's life, you are just replaying. Let me remind you again... his life is not your life, you have nothing to do with it.
Stop idolizing somebody, you should idolize yourself, believe in yourself, believe that you can become successful in your own way.
You can make a decision too, you can work hard too so why will you follow someone else's footsteps?
You have your mind, you can create, you can move, you don't need anybody to make yourself successful. You can reach the top on your own, just trust yourself.
