You work so hard, you sacrifice, you did your best and in the end you didn't get anything. You didn't get anything because you feel you wasted your time, you feel that your efforts were not rewarded. But the truth is... you get something big even if you can't see it, you become a different person, you become a different animal, you're better than yesterday, you're tougher and smarter. Never feel the lack, everytime you do it you are only making yourself look like a victim.
