YOU SHOULD BUILD THE BELIEF FIRST NOT THE SKILL ITSELF


How many times you've practice something, you practice and practice but during the competition when you have to use that skill... you can't use it? did it happen to you? it is frustrating right? You can't play your game and you can't show them what you've got.

The main reason for this is because you are not mentally prepared. You are doing it in practice but you don't believe that you can do it during the competition or in live performance. What the brain doesn't believe... the body can't achieve.

What you need to do is you have to build the belief first, you have to practice believing it so your body will follow. You have to build mental toughness and create a mindset that will never breakdown once the pressure is around. You have to create a thought pattern that will allow yourself to be free and loose when a certain type of situation happens.

A strong belief can be build through imagination and self talk. Always imagine that you can do it, imagine it everyday, the more you imagine the more you believe in yourself . You have to be specific about it, add some details in your imagination. And even if there are some thoughts that are ruining your imagination... keep going, just continue because those destructive thoughts will be gone in a while and you will be able to concentrate even more.

After you imagine it then it is time for you to practice, hone your skills, practice the movement that you need. It is like conditioning your mind first then conditioning your body. The two is not interchangeable, you have to strengthen your mind first and then your body.

If you really believe that it can happen then it will. Just because you are scared doesn't mean you don't believe it anymore. If you are mentally prepared then those fears will never stay for a long time. You just need some time to feel the moment and then your courage will start to sink in.

Building the belief is also like setting up yourself for victory. It is like locking in and there is no way you're going to lose. But of course you still have to work hard because those belief that you build will go away if you are not exerting any effort, you have to sweat so your belief will stay.
