There is nothing wrong with being a sidekick as the saying goes all heroes have a sidekick. If you accept that you are only a sidekick then it is fine there is nothing wrong with that, what makes it wrong is you do the sidekick role but you wanted to become the main character. What makes it more wrong is you wanted to become the main character but you don't believe you can be.

If you will remain a sidekick forever then you will just be a follower, you will follow someone's rules, you will clean your boss' shit, you will be forced to do what you don't want to do. The worse thing is... a sidekick always sacrifices his life to save the main character. Is that what you wanted to do? Again there is nothing wrong about being a sidekick, I am just highlighting the disadvantages of being a sidekick.

Sometimes the sidekick do all the hardwork, they do all the shitty stuffs but who gets the credit? The main character of course. Sidekicks don't get what they deserve, they serve as bodyguards and substitutes if the main character is not available.

If you want to become a star then never accept the role that you don't want. But keep in mind that stars should offer something that cannot be done by the sidekicks. You should bring something new to the table, you should always be at the top of your game because what main characters does is take over and not take part.
